Lastest obsessions - Chibi Robo

Chibi Robo is a game for the Nintendo Gamecube made by Bandai and Nintendo. It came out on 2006 and is still $45 to buy new. (despite the Wii being out)

Chibi Robo slipped under the radar and still lingers in the shadows of obscurity, so there’s a good chance you never heard of or know very little about it.

So what is it about, anyway?
The game starts of with a mother and father celebrating their daughter’s birthday. The daughter, who thinks she’s a frog, is delighted to recieve a Chibi Robo for her birthday. The mother makes a comment about them not being able to afford something so expensive and thus the plot is born.

As you play the game you see everyone’s lives and relationships deteriorate while you try an pick up the pieces.

While this is going on there is a parallel plot that’s down to your level, so to speak. After traveling to the basement you discover a giant robot that has been shut off. You learn that this robot, or Giga Robo, was around when the mother and father were first married but was too expensive to continue to run. You are also explained that Giga Robo met some aliens and wished that the toys in the house could come alive so that they could be his friends. (Up until this point you just assumed the toys could talk because you’ve seen crazier things in games.) You decide to recharge Giga Robo’s battery (out of your own pocket) and to find his missing leg.

On top of this, there tonnes of other sidequests and stories. You have to help out the toys, find Chibi Doors and collect stickers.

This is a platforming, action and puzzle game all rolled into one where one day you’re cleaning the floor and the next you’re fighting Spydorz. It’s a seemingly innocent title with a deeper stroryline that you shouldn’t let slip under your Chibi Radar.

With an amazing story, awsome gameplay, great graphics, and controls that are only mildly annoying, I have no choice but to give this game a solid 5 out of 5.

Go check this game out, you’ll love it .
