Latest Depressions - Wii Music
This morning I tried out the latest “game” from Nintendo, Wii Music. I must say, I’m not impressed.
The “game” starts up with a breif tutorial on how to use 4 basic instrument styles then puts you on a piano and tells you it’s time to play twinkle twinkle little star, something I can play very well on the piano. How do you play? You get some bouncy balls on the right that keep the rhythm (a metronome) and you wave the Wiimote (or nunchuk or both, your choice) to the beat of the song. The catch? You can play it as fast or as slow as, and with as few or many notes as you want. Without a grading system you could essentially sit there and still win.

For anyone who caught the tail end of the Mario 64 marathon we did this weekend you will remember I talked about the fact that you know have the ability to inject any rom of your choosing into the Wii Virtual Console.
The process of this is pretty technical but overall quite easy if you have the right tools and are confident. I’ve experimented with this myself and have managed to get a few games that arn’t for download on the Wii VC playable from the Wii channels just like any other VC game.
Remember that not every game is compatible with the wii right now, the problem lays with the emulator used by the VC. The newest roms on will have the newest version of the emulator for each system. eg. Sin & Punishment will have the latest version of the N64 emulator.
Now I could write my own tutorial for this but it is very long and like I said very technical and why bother re-inventing the wheel if someone’s already done it so here’s some links you will find useful
Wiki of games that have already been tested
Some of the files listed in the tutorial may be a little legally ambiguous and as such I can’t provide them for you but the easiest way to get them is just google and torrent.
Goodluck with your hacking and please if you get a game running add it to the wiki! (I personally hacked in Banjo-Kazooie and when it didn’t work I found the wiki and realised I’d just wasted an hour, so please, it really helps.)

Alright everyone else has done their wrap ups for this week so I figured I might as well try and see how it turns out.
Since Smash Brothers Brawl hasn’t been released in Australia yet I’ve had to make do with some other games for the moment.
So here they are.
